Floral Watercolor Cards-- Altenew June 2023 Inspiration Challenge Card

Hi crafty friends!

Today I am sharing a beautifully watercolored cards that I created for the June Altenew Inspiration Challenge. Never heard of this challenge?

Well, each month Altenew hosts a challenge featuring a designer's color scheme and concept for the month. Below will you find this month's inspiration from Deepa Robbins. If you would like to learn more, head over the the Altenew Blog.

I challenged myself to use Ranger Watercolor Pencils for these projects. I have had them but do not use them as often as I should. I also wanted to use products that I have recently added to my collection.

For this beautiful card, I chose to lean more into purple hues. I heat embossed the Precious Peony images using Gilded Embossing powder onto opposite corners of the watercolor paper. From there I used the watercolor pencils in Villanous Potion, Seedless Preserves, Rustic Wilderness, Crushed Olive, and Twisted Citron. With that colored and dry, I used the Seedless Preserves watercolor and the Woven Stencil to add a faded pattern to the center of the card panel. The sentiment is from the Kind Reminders Stamp set. It is heat embossed in Alabaster Embossing Powder + Embossing ink.

This next watercolored panel is created using the Bewitching Rose Stamp and Die set. It is also stamped in Gilded Embossing Powder. I then watercolored the floral elements using Villanous Potion, Seedless Preserves, Rustic Wilderness, Crushed Olive, and Picked Raspberry watercolor pencils. I went in with a white acrylic marker to add highlights and die cut this image out. Using washed down water, I added a faint Honeycomb pattern to the card base and adhered the bewitching rose. Final touches include stamping a sentiment from the stamp set, adding black splatter, and adding gold gems.

My final card features butterflies which I am slightly obsessed with. I used the Craft Your Life: Marigold Butterflies stamp set for this cards. I stamped them using Gilded Embossing Powder and added color using the Picked Raspberry watercolor pencil. Once that was dry, I went back in with Sweet Violet Purple Teal magical powder to add more color variation. I then cut the panel down and adhered it to this bright green panel and added a sentiment. I kept things very simple since the butterflies are the star.

This challenge allowed me to truly get my creative juices flowing. I love that I was able to watercolor and create 3 different projects. Tell me what you think. There is still time to join in on the fun. Will you be creating a card for Altenew's Inspiration Challenge this month?

Happy Crafting!
